(I gave t-bags to 2 co-workers, after raving about how wonderful this is, and their lack of comment 6 weeks later tells me that they didn't like it, either.) It's up to you whether you want to risk disliking it, or missing out on something truly amazing. (Rule of thumb: If you like pu-erh, you might as well try it; if not, this might not be your best introduction to it.) It has a rich and bold complex flavor, and literally so full-bodied that it makes a perfect coffee replacement. It pairs well with a high quality sage or wildflower honey. I also find that I can add more hot water about 3 or 4 times and still get a decent cup of tea out of the same leaves (with slightly diminishing depth of flavor of course). I completely disagree with the other reviewer that says this is not "real" puerh tea. In fact, that is absurd. My guess is that he is buying a cheap blended bagged tea and really doesn't know what "real" puerh tea is supposed to taste like. For those who have not tried puerh tea before, know that puerh is not just another flavor of tea but a completely different kind of tea with a very unique flavor. While this tea is a good value, it's way too bitter for my taste. There are no brewing instructions on the bag, so I've tried different amounts and different times, but the result is always bitter tea. Unless I can figure out how to brew it without the bitterness, I won't be ordering this again. |
