7 of 8 people found the following review helpful For a developed palette, February 27, 2011 By  vics - See all my reviews This review is from: Theo Classic Organic Dark Chocolate (70% Cacao) with Cherry & Almond, 3-Ounce Bars (Pack of 12) (Grocery) I would say Theo Chocolate produces a much higher quality product than most mass producers (i.e. Godiva/Ghirardelli) however their chocolate has a very high amount of cocoa in it as opposed to some other typical products, so the taste may be more strong/bitter/crumbly than you are accustomed to. People who usually like creamy milk chocolate would probably not like this bar for a number of reasons: 1) It's 70% dark chocolate, which means the cocoa butter/fat content is much lower, and therefore the texture will be not as fatty/creamy 2) It's extremely pure with very few additives which lends itself to a more cocoa-based flavor (if you've never eaten raw cacao nibs or you have and you hated them, again, not for you). I'm not trying to be a snob, but I do think that to work up to a product like this takes some time and development of one's palette and taste. The ones that had decent reviews seemed awfully pricey for a kitchen item that, honestly, is less functional and more novelty. The less expensive ones had widely variable ratings. I decided to take a chance and order the Wilton Pro, despite some of the negative ratings. The base is fairly hefty and the bottom bowl is solid and attached to the base. It is lined with metal and when on 'Preheat' mode, heats up without turning the auger and circulating the chocolate. The three tiers over which the chocolate cascades are made of heavy-duty plastic and locks together but comes apart for cleaning. You can pretty much dissemble the three tiers and the auger that runs up the middle, and after any big chunks of chocolate have been removed, soak in hot water or put in the dishwasher and the cleanup is exceptionally easy. I used it for a party last week and it was a hit. I was really nervous at first never using anything like this before, but I followed the instructions and the chocolate turned out exactly like how it looked in the picture. I highly recommend purchasing the actual Wilton brand chocolate melts. You do not have to add any oil, just melt and pour into the fountain. The chocolate tasted fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this product as I had a great experience. I've found that one of the best tools for fighting naughty cravings is a scrumptious low-calories treat. This bar is perfect for those times that chocolate is beckoning and your willpower is dwindling. It's not super-chocolaty, but it is sweet enough to curb cravings and keep me on track. I like that it contains a reasonable amount of fiber and a nice serving of protein. These are perfect to keep at school or the office for an afternoon snack. I also keep them on hand for an after-dinner treat. One thing to note is that these bars are on the tiny size. They're a bit bigger than a fun-size candy bar, but not by much. I wouldn't use these as meal replacement bars because they're definitely not big enough (nor are they touted as meal replacement bars--just a head's up). If you expect a chocolate candy bar, you'll be disappointed. Likewise if you expect a crunchy granola bar, you'll be disappointed. This one is a nice in-between snack. It's soft and has a chocolate flavor. Now my problem is to keep my kids from stealing them. They love the bars, but don't need them since they are so thin.
